Julie Brabbs named new cancer center chief administrative officer

ANN ARBOR, Michigan — Julie C. Brabbs, MBA, was named Rogel Cancer Center chief administrative officer. She will also serve as associate director for administration for the center’s National Cancer Institute Cancer Center Support Grant. The appointment is effective Oct. 17.

Brabbs has served for nearly 10 years as administrator for the Division of Hematology/Oncology in the U-M Department of Internal Medicine. For the past four years, she also has served as administrator for the Molecular Medicine and Genetics Division of Internal Medicine. In her role as division administrator, she was engaged in planning, evaluation and administrative oversight of laboratory and clinical research, patient care and educational activities. Brabbs led a team providing all of the administrative and finance support for more than 90 faculty members, 150 laboratory staff and 30 research laboratories working across five research facilities.

Prior to joining the University of Michigan in 2006, Julie spent roughly 13 years at Parke-Davis and Pfizer. There, she was a senior analyst and financial specialist in licensing and technology collaborations with other pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. She was also director of business administration for the global research portfolio in the neuroscience and dermatology areas.

In her Rogel Cancer Center role, Brabbs will lead all administrative functions supporting the Cancer Center’s mission.
