ANN ARBOR, Michigan— Pink ribbons for breast cancer, purple for pancreatic cancer, light blue for prostate and dark blue for colon. Each cancer type has its color. On June 3, the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center will celebrate them all.

The first-ever Colorful event was created to celebrate community and propel progress across all cancer research. The event benefits the Rogel Cancer Center, one of the leading cancer research institutions in the world.

“Cancer survivors and advocates represent the cancers they’re most passionate about through colorful ribbons. We thought that was a meaningful way to highlight our commitment to cancers of all types and to every cancer patient that we see. We want to give hope to every patient diagnosed with cancer,” says Eric Fearon, M.D., Ph.D., director of the Rogel Cancer Center.

The center’s mission is to transform the lives of cancer patients and their families by improving outcomes through research, innovation and transdisciplinary collaboration.

Colorful, which will be held virtually, is anchored to National Cancer Survivors Day, a global celebration of life that is held annually on the first Sunday in June. The event will feature special remarks from Robin Roberts, co-anchor of ABC’s “Good Morning America,” who has twice faced a cancer diagnosis, and emcee Adam Schefter of ESPN’s “NFL Insiders,” a University of Michigan alum.

The event is free to attend. People can also choose to support the Rogel Cancer Center by purchasing a T-shirt, sponsoring a table or making a donation. Learn more and register at http://victors.us/colorfulevent.
