Tumor Boards

A significant advantage of treatment at the Rogel Cancer Center is our tumor boards. These frequent meetings allow patients to have the expertise of a multidisciplinary team of physicians without having to schedule individual appointments. Surgeons, medical oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, among others participate on a regular basis.

Remote Second Opinion

The University of Michigan's Remote Second Opinion is available to those with adrenal cancer or are suspected to have adrenal cancer. With our Remote Second Opinion, you can obtain a medical consultation regarding your diagnosis and treatment plan by allowing our physicians to review your medical records and remotely interact with you and your local doctor. So, even if you can’t travel to the University of Michigan for an appointment, you can still get an opinion from our medical specialists.

25% of breast cancer survivors report financial decline due to treatment

Four years after being treated for breast cancer, a quarter of survivors say they are worse off financially, at least partly because of their treatment, according to a new study led by University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center researchers.

The Power of a Plant-based Diet

Did you know that about one-third of all cancers are caused by poor diet? Another one-third of cancers are caused by tobacco (cigarettes, snuff, etc.). In 2002, it is expected that 1.3 million people will be diagnosed with cancer. Think about that for a minute. That means that if everyone ate well and stopped using tobacco products, about one million of these cancers would never occur. That's how much power you have over your health.

Female doctors spend more time than male doctors on parenting, household tasks, study finds

A new study, authored by Reshma Jagsi, M.D., D.Phil., associate professor of radiation oncology, finds gender differences in parenting and household labor persist among a group of highly motivated physician-researchers in the early stages of their career. The finding could shed light on why female academic physicians in general do not have the same career success as their male colleagues.
